Your Past
0I like to tell people that their past is where the devil lives because he can do the most damage there. He loves being around all those harmful emotions generated by your past, like guilt, resentment, anger, rejection, and abandonment, because he makes full use of them in disrupting your present . He tries his hardest to put a negative spin on all thoughts about the past and, unfortunately, he is really good at what he does. Always remember that negative thoughts do not come from God. Once again, negative thoughts do not come from God! Now that I am aware of where they come from, whenever Satan tries to upset, disrupt, or distract me with an unpleasant thought from my past, I resist him. James 4:7 tells us that by doing so, he will flee from us. That’s a promise we need to stand on. Say this out loud, “I know this is you Satan, so in the name of Jesus I rebuke your futile efforts to control my thoughts. Now get out!” You’ll be amazed at how well that works. P.S. If you’re in a movie theatre, you might not want to say it out loud.
