God Waits
0Be aware that while we may think we are waiting on God, the truth may be that He is waiting on us. One of the questions we need to ask ourselves during any waiting period is whether or not we are ready for God to answer our prayers.
Because they could not be obedient to God’s commands and stop their grumbling, God rightly determined that the Israelites were not ready to enter the Promised Land until they had wandered in the desert for 40 years.
In 1 Samuel 16, God instructs Samuel to anoint the teenaged David king, but it was a number of years and some very harsh trials that David had to go through before he actually took the throne. It was during this waiting period that David was able to learn perseverance, humility, and total dependence on God for his provision. Some of his beautiful prayers for salvation from his enemies in the Book of Psalms give us a good idea of his commitment to
being patient. In Psalm 27:14 David encourages us to “wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”
Waiting on God to answer our prayers may be difficult, but understanding how perfect His timing really is makes it a lot easier.
